Public health department accreditation has been under discussion for years, and several states have initiated efforts to accredit state and local health departments. Various other groups have studied the issue and identified concerns regarding costs, benefits, and risks.
As PHAB evolves, more tools and resources will be available to help prepare for voluntary national accreditation.
