Public health department accreditation has been under discussion for years, and several states have initiated efforts to accredit state and local health departments.  Various other groups have studied the issue and identified concerns regarding costs, benefits, and risks.

As PHAB evolves, more tools and resources will be available to help prepare for voluntary national accreditation. Until then, this page will provide links to organizations and resources that will help inform and provide valuable perspectives.  Listed resources include publications and reports on quality improvement and accreditation, links to organizations and programs involved with accreditation, and frequently asked questions regarding the Public Health Accreditation Board and the Exploring Accreditation project.
