12/17/08: PHAB's First Webcast on Accreditation. On Monday, December 15th, PHAB hosted a webcast on the development of the national accreditation program, and provided information on when the first draft standards will be available for public review. 11/12/08: Call for Fees & Incentives Workgroup Members. The Workgroup will develop a fee structure for applicants and identify strategies for securing incentives for program participation. Workgroup description available. If interested, submit a letter of interest and CV to Jeff Neistadt by December 19, 2008 at jeff@nalboh.org

5/1/08: Decisions posted. Decision points from the February 2008 meeting of the Standards Development Workgroup and Equivalency Recognition Workgroups are available to the public

4/11/08: Assessment Process Workgroup Members finalized. List of workgroup members available online.

1/22/08: Workgroup Meetings Announced. PHAB released the dates of the workgroup meetings, which are open to the public. More information available.

1/18/08: PHAB Board of Directors expanded. Eleven new members were added in January, for a total of 20 board members. The full list of members is available online.

1/11/08: Research & Evaluation Committee Members finalized. List of workgroup members available online.

11/16/07: Dr. F. Douglas Scutchfield joins PHAB Board of Directors.

10/30/07: Standards Development and Equivalency Recognition Workgroups finalized. MCPP Healthcare Consulting selected as consultant to Standards Development Workgroup. List of workgroup members available.

10/12/07: Robin Wilcox spoke on the benefits of accreditation. Robin participated in a NACCHO Webcast on October 12, 2007, providing an update on PHAB. The webcast is archived and available online.

8/27/07: Robin Wilcox hired as Associate Director for PHAB. See press release.

7/18/07: New members added to PHAB Board of Directors

The Public Health Accreditation Board (PHAB) Executive Committee welcomed three new members to the Board of Directors. The members bring a range of experience, and include:

  • Kaye Bender, RN, PhD, FAAN. Kaye is the Dean of the School of Nursing at the University of Mississippi, and served as Chair of the Exploring Accreditation Steering Committee.
  • Edward Harrison is the President of the National Commission on Correctional Health Care. His experience includes implementation of a voluntary accreditation program in more than 450 institutions, including prisons, jails, and juvenile detention facilities.
  • William Riley, PhD. William is the Associate Dean at the Minnesota University School of Public Health. He recently authored an informative paper on the implementation of quality improvement techniques in police departments.
